About us
The AAPA was formed in 1994 by a small group of therapists who saw the need for an aromatherapy association which was non profit making and dedicated to the development of the profession & support of therapists. Its officers and staff are all qualified therapists which ensures that the interests of therapists are represented at all times.
Its Chair is Joyce West, herself a highly qualified therapist, tutor/assessor. She heads up the AAPA team with Carole Preen as Vice-Chair, who is also multi qualified therapist, tutor and assessor. Together they have worked on development of many educational standards, including writing the National Occupational Standards for aromatherapy, the AC Core Curriculum, university programs and most recently the new award in Complementary Therapies for City & Guilds (6904).

Sad News
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sylvia Baker whose picture is shown below at last year's camexpo. Sylvia worked tirelessly for many years for the Aromatherapy Organisations Council and more recently for the Aromatherapy Trade Council.
Sylvia's warmth, kindness and knowledge will be much missed by all of those in the aromatherapy profession and our thoughts are with her family and friends at this sad time.
